P.volve, one of my favorite fitness studios in NYC, has revolutionized boutique-studio-quality-fitness by going digital. Unlike other strictly major-city-based and overpriced workout classes that pack the max amount of students into a studio (like those sardines in that one episode of Spongebob), P.volve takes a different approach. Although there is a fabulous NYC based studio that holds a few classes a day, most members of the P.volve community stream their workouts easily from the comfort of their own home by using P.volve's easy online streaming system.
What is P.volve?
Unless you're literally practicing in a sauna - you probably won't leave your mat drenched in sweat after streaming a P.volve workout. It's a low intensity and low impact workout that focuses on technique and won't leave you struggling to move afterwards. P.volve is basically the exact opposite of the workout one would expect Victoria's Secret Angels and fitness gurus to be participating in, BUT they do. Why? Because it works.
Every P.volve workout circulates around one main goal: lifting what's loose. The P.volve method uses a series of unique resistance movements paired with specialized equipment to target and tone hard-to-reach muscles in not only your backside, but in your legs, core, and arms as well. Because it's low intensity, each small set of P.volve movements focuses directly on the quality of each rep NOT the quantity. Most exercises are paired with equipment like resistance bands, weights, slant boards, or the infamous P.ball and done at a very slow, burning pace. These slow and steady movements do not hike our heart rates up to cardio mode (wearing us out and making us fatigued), but instead bring our heart rates up to a steady fat-burning state - helping us cut down overall body fat while building lean muscle over those hard-to-reach areas targeted.
P.volve is perfect (or perk-fect lol) for everyone, but especially those of us (myself included) worn out from high intensity cardio workouts, basically immobilized for days after heavy weight sessions, and not still seeing the results we know we sweat so hard for. It's also great for anyone blessed with that 'naturally skinny' gene (seriously I hate you) and wants to perk up some problem areas or anyone who doesn't necessarily love leaving the comfort of their own apartment (me).
