Keep Your Morning Beans Sweet and Clean

Order it black:
  • Especially when intermit fasting, this is the way to go. Black coffee can do wonders for a fast thanks to the boost in caffeine, curb in hunger it induces, and black coffee can even be beneficial for our gut bacteria!

Add Keto - Approved Sweetener:
  • Adding a sugar free sweetener can make black coffee much more bearable if you have a sweet tooth. Note that all "sugar free" sweeteners are NOT equal! Many popular ones, like Sweet-n-Low and Splenda, actually do spike blood sugar. Instead go with one of the options below:

1. Stevia

2. Monk Fruit

3. Erythritol

These all have no impact on blood sugar levels in the body but still add a nice, natural sweetness!

Add a Healthy Fat:
  • Commonly known as "Bulletproof Coffee," adding a healthy fat to your morning joe can keep you both in ketosis and super energized throughout the day. Many choose butter, but I recommend choosing one of the options below as these fats are easier on our livers:

1. MTC Oil

2. Coconut Oil

3. Ghee (clarified butter)

4. Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil

Add an Unsweetened Creamer or Nut Milk:
  • Adding an unsweetened creamer can dial up both the fat and the taste in your morning coffee. Instead of heavy cream, which can add up in carbs, try to steer towards unsweetened nut based creamers. I listed some of my favorites below!

Add Some Spice:
  • One of my favorite ways to make my coffee better is by adding Pumpkin Pie Spice or Cinnamon. This not only adds natural sweetness, but also adds some extra benefits to your brew. These spices are both anti-inflammatory, improve circulation, and can even help kick sugar cravings to give you that subtle flavor without the sugary syrup.

Add Unsweetened Chocolate:
  • When tasted alone, 100% cacao can taste super bitter. BUT when combined with the even stronger bitterness of coffee, the sweetness in cacao is brought to the surface. Letting a piece of dark chocolate melt in a hot coffee or adding some cacao powder to an iced coffee can truly amp up the taste and even the health benefits of your morning bev.
