Brain Food For Thought

Writer's picture: clairemariekallettaclairemariekalletta

Many misinterpret a low-carb lifestyle and associate it with butter, bacon, cheese, and other animal products. Although those things are approved on a ketogenic diet, it's becoming known as "dirty keto" in the health and wellness industry due to the overabundance of processed meats and fats from low quality oils like canola and vegetable oil.

From my personal experience I have found I feel much better taking a different approach to keto. By fueling my body with mostly plant based foods and sprinkling in high quality fatty fish like salmon and shrimp, nourishing cheeses like goat and feta, and (of course) eggs once a day. This way of eating makes me feel more energetic, my skin seems clearer, and I am confident I am getting an the added nutrients and vitamins a plant based diet has to offer.

Finding vegan - keto options isn't always easy, which is why the makers of IQ Bars developed the perfect, plant based protein bar to satisfy those of us who aim to do low carb the cleaner way. All IQ Bars are only 4 net carbs (total carbs - fiber) have no animal products, and are gluten, dairy, and soy free. Besides being both vegan AND keto, IQ Bars stand out from other protein bars by being packed with essential brain supporting nutrients to keep us going through busy work and school days.

6 Brain Supporting Nutrients

1. Lion's Mane: Boosts nerve growth by promoting the generation of new neurons and protecting ones we already have in our system, greatly improving the healing process of injury-induced nerve damage.

2. MCTs: Provide instant energy to the brain and body without the blood sugar crash. Learn more about MCTs here.

3. Omega 3s: These fatty acids make up 8% of the brain's memory center, supporting neuron formation. Over 70% of American's aren't intaking enough omega 3s!

4. Flavonoids: Promotes blood flow to the brain, giving us that "sharp" feeling by speeding up the way our brain processes information like memories and facts previously learned.

5. Vitamin E: Decreasing inflammation and oxidation in the brain and is shown to drastically slow the aging process.

6. Choline: Crucial element needed to form brain cells regulating mood, muscle control, and memory.

How can brain food taste so good?
  • IQ Bars come in 5 unique flavors:

  1. Peanut Butter Chip (my personal fav, tastes like a Reese's)

  2. Almond Butter Chip (tastes like fresh cookie dough)

  3. Lemon Blueberry (tastes like a decadent pie without the crash and burn later on)

  4. Matcha Chai (this unique combo is unlike anything else - refreshing, spircy, and sweet)

  5. Chocolate Sea Salt (this undeniable combo of salty & sweet satisfies BOTH cravings at once)

  • Delicious AND nutritious, IQ Bars are sweetened with stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol - the 3 best keto approved sweeteners.

  • Although each flavor has different ingredients, the use of nuts, seeds, and natural extracts gives each bar a unique and fulfilling flavor.
