I am not exaggerating when I say the week of eating I had in Tulum was life changing. It was almost if we were just there for a food tour. Everything I consumed was fresh, delicious, and for the most part super healthy. Throughout the week we ate at a ton of different restaurants both on and off the beach, each with its own unique atmosphere and menu niche. We started each day off with an amazing meal: below are all of the best breakfast and brunch restaurants we ate at, some recommended and some just lucky finds.
The Real Coconut, The Sanara Hotel

The Real Coconut was hands down my favorite restaurant in Tulum. The menu is completely dairy, grain, and gluten free and surprisingly soy and corn free as well. The food is comprised of beautifully put together dishes with a super fresh and local Mexican twist. The chef uses coconut flour to make tostadas, wraps, chips, and magically makes a shrimp nacho bowl a feel like a guilt free meal. There's also a crazy healthy coffee, smoothie, juice, and cocktail menu and everything on it is filled with superfoods and healthy spices - even the cocktails! After sunrise, we had a beautiful beachfront breakfast here and loved it so much we went back for lunch the same day.
What we ate:
Ranchero Eggs
Macho Pancakes
What we drank:
Charcoal Lemonade
Super 'Fun Guy' Cafe (we probably ordered 3 each because this coffee mixture was to die for)
Frappacino

Nestled between the jungle and the beach lies Raw Love Cafe, a totally raw vegan and gluten free outdoor restaurant. The atmosphere at Raw Love Cafe truly a tropical oasis, with tables and chairs carved into surrounding trees, beautiful hand painted decor everywhere, and a meal on your plate that looks like artwork itself. Of all the smoothie bowls I've dipped a spoon into, Raw Love Cafe has the best presentation and taste I've ever come across. Also, their Zucchini Alfredo was mind blowing. After devouring our meals ans slurping down the cafes fantastic coffee we felt refreshed and charged up with superfoods ready to take on a day of exploring.
What we ate:
Alkalize Up Smoothie Bowl
Zucchini Alfredo
Casa Pueblo, Tulum Town
Casa Pueblo is a hotel and restaurant located in Tulum town, about a 10 minute drive from the beach strip. Our hosts, whom have lived in Tulum for a few years, recommended Casa Pueblo as their favorite restaurant, boasting about the food, service, and atmosphere. We found the recommendation to be spot on and went for brunch the night after we ate at Casa Pueblo for dinner. The newly designed brunch menu had a typical Tulum flair, made up of spicy, zesty, and remarkably healthy daytime dishes. The staff at Casa Pueblo was extremely helpful, the food was amazingly presented and superbly tasty, and the hotel itself felt like something out of a magazine.

Burrito-Amor, Tulum Town
![](https://static.wixstatic.com/media/178835_fb9050d2cadb4ac7b62bf944852897e6~mv2.png/v1/fill/w_533,h_590,al_c,q_85,enc_auto/178835_fb9050d2cadb4ac7b62bf944852897e6~mv2.png)
On the side of the main road exiting Tulum Town towards the jungle is home to the always busy Burrito-Amor. Serving up basically any kind of burrito or burrito bowl you can imagine, the place seems to be poppin' with guests, both local and tourists, all day and night long. My favorite part about Burrito Amor were the coconut flour tortillas and the fact that they serve breakfast burritos at any hour. The four sauces that come alongside the burritos were unlike any dipping sauce I've ever tried and I found it hard to pick just one. Although we got burritos each time we went, I noticed the salads, parfaits, and other dishes coming out of the kitchen were beautifully presented and packed with clean ingredients. We also started with the guacamole, which happened to be the freshest tasting guacamole we had all week long.
What we ate:
Homemade Guacamole
Chaya Egg & Spinach Burrito with Avocado & Cheese
Shrimp Burrito
Al Pastor Style Pork Burrito

Mi Amor Restaurant, Mi Amor Hotel
After watching a very early but beautiful sunrise a few steps down the beach, we stopped at the closest place we could find due to incredible caffeine withdrawal and hangry attitudes. Not knowing if there was even a restaurant serving breakfast inside, we stepped into Mi Amor Hotel with our fingers crossed. To our surprise, the atmosphere inside the hotel and its restaurant was one of the most beautiful in all of Tulum, surrounded by beautiful fountains, pools and florals. The outside deck is placed high atop a cliff overlooking the beach, the service is incredible, and the food was just what we needed. Being in a dire emergency-need for-caffeine-state, I ordered both the coffee smoothie and a cold brew. BOTH were presented to me in enormous wine glasses, somehow making the amazing taste, view, and service an even better experience.
What we ate:
Omelette Your Way
Reboot Smoothie

HUMO, Tulum Town

We went to Humo one morning for breakfast after our host recommended it to us. They told us Humo had a great mexican breakfast menu and a Raw Love Cafe inside, so we were excited to try it out. To our surpirse, the entire restuant is one big floor pilow party, with beautiful low wooden tables and bright and cozy pillows and rugs. Almost everyone took their shoes off and got comfortable and it was honestly hard to get up and leave due to being so relaxed. After loving it so much the first time, we decided to order off the Raw Love Menu, again being presented with beautiful superfood packed bowls of awesomeness. The coffee here was also really strong and paired with a healthy bowl made us ready to take on the day.
What we ate:
Green Goddess Bowl with Coconut Butter
Acai Berry Bowl
Kaxapa Factory, Playa Del Carmen

After getting off the airplane in Cancun we knew we couldn't make it all the way to Tulum without grabbing a bite to eat. We decided to stop at Kaxapa Factory in Playa del Carmen, halfway between Cancun and Tulum. The restaurant staff was super friendly and the super yummy food set the premise for the rest of the food we'd eat on the trip. All the food was healthy and traditional Mexican cuisine. Our waiter even bought us 5 free juice samples to try!
What we ate:
La Verde Salad with Fried Egg and Steak
Arepa Catira
Empanada Special
