Beauty products can be SUPER expensive nowadays. $45 for a concealer that allows me to leave the house Sunday morning without scaring anyone? What has the world come to. Anyway, below are my favorite ways to save product, spend less, and even lighten my beauty baggage when traveling.
1. Using Eyeshadow as Eyeliner
This is a no brainer. I do this almost everyday (mostly because I still can't figure out liquid eyeliner) and if you think about it, what psycho actually uses that black eyeshadow at the end of the Naked 2 palette on their lid?
2. Using Lipstick as Blush
I LOVE THIS. IT'S GENIUS. My brother's girlfriend taught me this when I visited my parents and left my entire makeup bag in the city. I honestly prefer it over using actual blush because using the same shade on your lips and cheeks gives an extremely natural flushed look. It may be obvious but disclaimer - I am not suggesting you try this with purple, nude, or any other wacky color you spent $50 dollars on for your Kylie lip kit. Stick to reds, corals, and pinks and just LIGHTLY dot it on your cheekbone and blend it in with a beauty blending sponge (aka your fingers). REMEMBER a little goes a long way - you don't wanna show up to work looking like a sunburnt clown.

3. Bronzer as Eyeshadow
My genius roommate taught me this one. Now you can appear even more tan and actually get the most out of that summer bronzer you haven't touched since September. It's super natural looking and makes your eye color pop. It's also another easy way to cut down on the amount of products floating around your pocketbook.
4. Purchase Travel Sized
There are so many products I want to try but honestly don't need and probably will use for a week then go back to my usual 'don't scare the pedestrians' simple makeup look consisting of the same 5 products for the last 3 years. Therefore, I like to take advantage of travel sized products to test them out, that way if they don't preform as promised (magically make me appear decent) I'm not stuck with a boatload of product. Honestly, most of my favorite products I discovered as travel sized products from Birchbox.
5. Venture into T.J. Maxx
There are so many amazing beauty products lurking in the jungle that is T.J. Maxx. To get an idea of what I'm referring to, I wrote an entire article about these crazy deals which you can read here.
6. Check Yourself
Each time before getting on line at Sephora or clicking that "complete order" button, check yourself. Are you seriously in the position to buy a $85 eyeshadow palette when Elf probably has the exact same one for $5.99? Don't go apesh*t, use that money towards more important things - like your $4 daily Starbucks coffee.
7. Sleep With Your Makeup From Last Night
Another great way to save product - just never take it off. Leave it on for weeks at a time while occasionally touching up after a hot yoga class or a stressful, rainy commute. Trust me it works.
